is it loneliness or solitude?

i don't like this time of night. at least most times, i don't like it. it's that time when everything and everyone have shuttered their doors and retreated into their dream-woven burrows of sleep. and it is during those times that you cannot find the outlet you need to help you come to the peace required for restful sleep. at least, that is the kind of night that this moment is for me. i made three phone calls that ended in voice-mail..but what can you expect when you've been working 13 hours and are heading home at 1 a.m. it's just - all i wanted was a kind voice to let me get out the frustration and the hurt - and to provide that warm, loving solace in the midst of mild turbulence. and finding the windows shuttered and locked only heightens one's sense of loneliness. i don't tend to revel in the solitude of the late night hours...yes in the solitude of the morning, pre-dawn, when you rise and no one around has made the foray out into awake-land...but i can't stand those dark stillnesses...so i'm sitting here, procrastinating going to bed because i know bob is soundly and happily asleep and i'll work myself into this ball of wide-awake, restless, and hunted something if i go there now.

nevena's birthday was a riot. on another note. she had nine shots (and half of them were pure, hard liquor)....we visited front page news where julie and eric came for dinner...and then tracy, kelly, sean, nevena and i trekked off to east atlanta - pub crawled through the earl, east side lounge, mary's, and gravity pub. it was quite funny to see. as was her cell phone call to me this morning (me being merely across the house) saying "jel....i don't feel so good..help me." i laughed. she wasn't that bad off. just a wee bit hung-over.

they fired someone at work today. it sucked. but i think i have mixed feelings about it. the girl is one who had become so embittered with taco mac that i think it will be good for her to be forced to find another job. i think she'll end up happier. but it's gotta suck right now.

ok. no more blithering from me today. g'night
