8.21.2004 back to the rest of my life. i don't know where to begin. grad school starts this week. i'm a bit scared - i stumbled across a course of mine that is in webct (while i was enroute to finding the galileo password so i could do some research at work) and the instructor posted that there was an assignment due the 1st week of class - read ch 1 & 2 (and this course is MBA accounting - i've never had accounting...i gave it the slip when i got them to let me in to finance at agnes without having completed the accounting prereqs) and then do all these problems. i'm now thinking, shit..what did i get myself in to. oh well. some finance major friend needs to pop out of the woodwork now and offer to tutor me in this stuff. sushi is growing by leaps and bounds...i'm guessing he's 4.5 lbs by now. one of my fish finally had babies - i'm only spotting two in the 10-gallon fry tank..but maybe more will pop up. i walked past a brindle pit bull puppy at pet smart today that was up for adoption, and you know i had to keep my eyes averted and walk quickly or i would have been sucked in for sure. and the thing is, if i did bring a dog home, bob wouldn't even be mad. so i don't even have that thought to dissuade me. no more til we get a yard jel...that's my mantra...or attempted mantra. i am actually going to babysit sprout and katie's monsters (aka chihuahuas) tonight and tomorrow...i can't believe i actually agreed to take care of them...they're like spoiled children...cute and all..but i do not plan on getting up at 6 a.m. to walk them. i bought my laptop!!!! $1300 smackaroos later, i have my own personal ibm thinkpad getting built as i type...well, i bet they haven't even started doing anything yet (since they haven't even charged my credit card)...and it may be 4 weeks before i get it - really though...how hard is it to ship a computer with its additional mouse (i hate laptop mouse things), its add-on warranty, and its add-on virus scan....nope, apparently it takes weeks. i'm an instant gratification kind of girl...so i want it yesterday. tied to that, i got my student loan money - how relieving is it to be able to pay all my bills for the next five months, pay off that freaking credit card (still has medical stuff on it), and afford my portion of this laptop....it was a nice feeling...and it will remain nice until two years from now when i start having to pay the shit back. i just finished a great book. nickel and dimed. it's nonfiction - the author goes out into america and tries to make it on low-wage jobs - ok..so i don't convey anything properly - but really...it's eye-opening and heart-wrenching (at least to me....it makes me want to go and hand money to the working poor...student loan money though since my account was at a big $80 before that pile landed in it)...and it makes me not want to hire a house-cleaning service unless i pay them fairly. and to clean my house, i would think a fair wage would be at least $75...and that's not quite in our budget (or jelena's thoughts on what money should be spent on)...so i think i will keep cleaning the house myself...though it's become a part-time job. we went cosmic bowling for christen's birthday last night...haven't done that for a few years...but she wanted to and so we did...i like that our birthdays are near each other...it makes it a birthday month...and it reminds me to start thinking about her bday gifts once i've got mine!!! i'm bad at remembering that stuff...or i buy a gift (for whatever occassion) and then don't even think about the fact that it should be wrapped...or put in a gift bag or what not...so it's always a dash to the store en route and then a wrap-job in the car...you'd think i'd learn by now... ok. enough rambling. i'll be better about posting. i really wanted to post some dreams that i had. and since it's been over a week, you know i've forgotten them. plus, i need to get ready for work...and the monsters. 0 Comments: |
