back to the basics: the crawford family xmas

well folks,
i'm in ohio. been here since thursday. i can't say i've ever seen anything more beautiful than the ice storm we've experienced...the trees are all glazed in this clear ice and just twinkle in the sunlight. good thing something is twinkling.....we have no power. and have had none since we arrived. oh yeah...that's right...it's a REAL traditional christmas....we sit around by candlelight and read books (my father reads "a christmas carol" aloud to us) and drink alcohol....and fight over who sits nearest the ornamental gas fireplace...at least taht thing has been heating the house a bit. it was 5 below last night. the high is 11 today. the house, however, has stayed a oh-so-toasty 60 degrees....or just a bit below.
eh, it's been kind-of fun anyway. see, melissa had passed off cooking xmas dinner to the crawfords and well, we apparently engineered a natural disaster to prevent us from having to do anything but drive to the closest chinese restaurant....there goes daddy's wishes for "a traditional dinner." :) and there haven't really been dishes to wash or too much other shit to clean up...so, all in all, i'm almost done with hillary clinton's book and will move on to other quality reading when i've done so.
