east atlanta strut is sat. the 17th of sept. i'm running the 5k though i just ran for the first time in 6 weeks.

i'm about to begin fostering a pomeranian or a chihuahua - not a hurricane rescue, but i'm still trying on that front.

i just read a neighbor's account of how her friend (who's staying with her) just reunited with her dad (both from new orleans) and he'd managed to save his 10 animals. but he talked about the howls and crying of animals stranded and abandoned - some still stuck atop rooves. it made me cry. and then i donated more money to the humane society disaster relief effort.

tonight, the feminist women's health center is having a mailing party to get our fliers out for choice celebration. on saturday, they're fliering in-town neighborhoods. if you want to volunteer, please do - i'm on the committee for the event and it's a good cause.

choice celebration is thurs the 29th of sept from 7 p.m. to midnight - if you are a friend of mine, you should be there. tickets are only $10 and they're having a bad-ass silent auction, a raffle (with the grand prize being a weekend in savannah at a gay bed and breakfast), door prizes, athens boys choir, the moto litas, and other great entertainment. it benefits the young women's leadership project at FWHC. so yes - all you blog readers, you really are supposed to be there to support me in this endeavor.

don't forget the atlanta animal alliance walk/run for animals on oct 7th. i'll post more info on that soon.

s2 - my dad is coming in to town on friday the 30th and staying til sunday (and i haven't seen him since last christmas) so i have to back-out of the bad-ass camping trip that is planned - i'm totally bummed about that (since i NEVER go on fun trips with friends...EVER) but it's the first time to see my dad in 9 months so that's definitely a priority. let's plan a north georgia pumpkin patch/leaf viewing trip in october.

decatur beer fest is the 15th of october - i'll be there volunteering again, bring your drunk asses on.
