just enjoying the ride....slowly and soulfully feeling the wheels unwind.... finding my way back home..
today, amid a flurry of activity (yes, i got the first part of the damn d****** work done but now i've moved on to dissertation editing - which is actually very interesting), i realized that i am quite content - and in high anticipation of tonight's peachbowl with chiggers, ching chow jessica, and nev - car chalk, face tattoos, uga shirts, and a pre-party for us at the yacht club paired with lower level seats 20 rows off the 40 yd line = a quality time.
it's been a year (and we all know i'm not a sap or cheesy) but upon some (slight) reflection it has been an absolutely fabulous year. amazing new friends were made, my career has taken off, i've been able to do a lot of things i wouldn't have been able to do previously (traveled a decent bit - vegas, the beach, chicago, puerto rico) and i'll be in nyc in just a few short weeks to see my pony and i'll finally be able to take bob to croatia. plus, i've gotten involved in some great new organizations/groups - i've been able to volunteer more than ever before (totaled over 300 hours last year and even received company recognition for that). i have had the chance to help 3 broken-spirited papillons in their rehabilitiation from puppy mills (and how rewarding has it been to see wiley come so far!). i went to my first pro basketball and football games, not to mention my first several uga tailgates. i spent treasured moments with various friends at game nights, theme parties, and over good meals. i watched two good friends get married and was honored to be a part of their wedding. i swam in my first ever gay games and loved every part of those 5 days in chicago. i watched one of my closest friends strengthen, grow, and buy her first home. i jogged with kenshata, i ran the peachtree - this time with my mom, my sister, and cassi. i fell a little more in love with bob, my best friend. i ate my first oyster. i laughed my way through an insane evening with great friends and tori as we bachelorette'd our way across the town. i watched football games (sometimes with beth) on sunday afternoons - chomping into pizza. i visited the aquarium with beth j., barb, doug, wendy, bob's mom, stacey, nevena, my dad all through the year. i found an amazing new group of friends here in the village - good people, great company. i purchased my first-ever dvd - talladega nights - and i gave a little piece of my heart to ricky bobby. i made a cookbook for the company - and am cooking my first-ever recipe from it in the next 24 hours. i smiled, i laughed, and i value all the greatness there is around me....
