7.19.2007 A BATL tidbit from former EA resident Marguerite Murray: "This weekend, East Atlanta will commemorate the 143rd anniversary of the Battle of Atlanta, which occurred largely in the area on July 22, 1864. There will be several events that I encourage you all to check out. Here's the address for their web site: http://batlevent.org/. There is one event in particular that I want to highlight (and it's FREE). My friend, Doug Lothes, has a one-man show called "Gone with the Wind in 20 Minutes." It's a parody of the movie and is HILARIOUS. He will perform at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. at the East Atlanta Library (400 Flat Shoals Avenue) this Saturday, July 21. After completing the movie (in 20 minutes) he plays Scarlett briefly as if Katherine Hepburn or Bette Davis had won the part. Definitely worth your time this Saturday! There will also be van tours and walking tours of the neighborhood with a tour guide showing you where the battle took place, tours of Sylvester Cemetery and Oakland Cemetery, a fiddler at the Naio Gallery, and the East Atlanta Hardware is planning to show the movie "Glory" on the side of their building on Saturday night. Come check it out! 0 Comments: |
